Business Development Director at BlueConduit

BlueConduit’s mission is to eliminate uncertainty around water infrastructure material throughout the US and to empower local officials with the information necessary to remove all potentially harmful pipes. Building and executing a sales and outreach strategy is essential to achieving that goal, and BlueConduit is seeking a sales executive to help lead this effort.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with president, director of customer and government services, and co-founders to set and execute sales and marketing strategy

  • Act as the commercial sales and business development lead in the government and municipal markets.

  • Build and manage a team of sales representatives.

  • Identify qualified prospects and develop customer relationships and key partnerships

  • Develop and maintain a large database of qualified prospects through all methods; social media, cold calling, personal visits, and networking.

  • Build, manage, and actively work a sales pipeline.

  • Identifying potential customers through network, channel partners, cold-calling, and email communications.

  • Preparing and delivering sales presentations to potential and existing customers and partners.

  • Researching competitors’ products, pricing, and product success to determine customer preferences.

  • Developing innovative sales strategies to achieve sales goals.

  • Create new leads and close existing opportunities.

  • Work with the president to set pricing strategies for end customers.

  • Assist with grant proposals and presentations as needed.

  • Expand industry knowledge by attending educational workshops and reading professional publications.

 

Requirements

  • Strong B2G or Business-to-utilities sales experience.

  • Self-directed, entrepreneurial and results oriented with a can-do, hands-on attitude and style.

  • Strong track record of growing bookings in similar sales positions.

  • Commitment to the company's social impact.

  • Knowledge of water industry is preferred.

  • Experience in tech is preferred.

  • Strong negotiation and consultative sales skills.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestically.

  • Clean driving record and reliable automotive transportation required.

  • Experience positioning and selling both services and SaaS products in a complex sales environment

  • CRM experience a plus

  • Ability to function well in a strong team-based culture
