Lead & Copper Rule

US EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule Revision (LCRR) seeks to protect children and communities from the risks of lead exposure with updated requirements. Read about the Federal and state-level guidance.

An accurate inventory is key to LCRR compliance.

Federal Lead & Copper Rule

The Lead and Copper Rule Revision requires that US water utilities inventory service line materials by October 16, 2024. A plan to replace these lead service lines is also due on that day.

That’s a lot to do in a short time. Fortunately, the EPA includes the option to use predictive modeling for service line material investigation.

Does Your State Accept Predictive Modeling?

The EPA included predictive modeling in its Guidance for Developing and Maintaining a Service Inventory, then deferred to state regulators to decide how they want their water systems to engage with the technology.
